Sudima Hotel, 5 Mile Queenstown

JCY undertook the design, documentation and on-site observation for the new Sudima Hotel at 5 Mile, Queenstown.  The 120 rooms hotel Sudima hotel offer is part of Building 7 and sits atop the retail podium.

The hotel offering consist of suites of visitor accommodation.  It also boasts a large restaurant and bar, elevated outdoor dining space and conference and office facilities.

The design of the roof is inspired by the theme of the surrounding Alpine ranges, specifically mirroring the peaks of the Remarkables mountain range in the background. This architectural reference to the remarkable local topography, coupled with a subdued colour palette, allows the building to seamlessly blend and complement its natural environment.

The structural steel detailing along the canopy lines and the corten iron screens that wrap the building along the road way provide something of an industrial aesthetic to the exterior.

The interior design concept was undertaken by Nikki Wilson of NW studio out of Arrowtown, the design team has assembled a simple yet sophisticated palette of colours and materials.  From the calm and cool feel of the hotel rooms to the public spaces, restaurants and function rooms that complement the bold exterior making the New Sudima hotel a luxurious accommodation option in Queenstown.

The hotel opened late 2021.
